I’ve always been concerned with the air quality in my home. Especially since I’m an animal lover (1 doberman and 2 cats) keeping fresh, clean air in my house has been somewhat of a challenge.

I first came upon the Oreck XL Air Purifier just through internet research. I’m familiar with Oreck because of the quality vacuums they have and once in a while I see their commercials on TV. I’ve always considered myself to be a pretty smart consumer and I like to research my purchases online, especially when we’re talking about something like an air purifier that can get into the $100s of dollars pretty easily.

I watched this review for the Oreck XL Professional Air Purifier and wasn’t very impressed:

After reading more reviews on the XL Professional I saw a lot of people dissapointed with it. Even though the price has dropped by $200 for this unit since this review was done, the average rating is just a 2.5/5.

I’m not really a big fan of the big blocky look of many of the air purifiers either.

I fell in love when I finally found the Tower – it looks really sleek and does a great job of cleaning the air in my home with minimal hassle.

“I purchased this product (Oreck XL professional air purifier from Oreck website). I have to admit, I had a very small “Ionic Breez”Air-purifier and it work fine. But This product is worth EVERY Penny of it! So easy to set up and boy I breath so well at night. I had a bad cold just last week, I feel that this air-purifier really helped me to over come my flu faster! I got one for my living room and one for my bedroom!
What I love about it:
1. Has 4 seeped (Quiet, Med. High,and Turbo). I used Turbo during my cooking and it really works fast to get rid of the onion and garlic smell in the house! Please note that Turbo is loud so if you set on turbo make sure you are not watching anything on TV. Quiet mode is really quiet.
2. BREEZE to clean! NOTE: during the use you will hear “sparky” noise, please don’t be scare, this is normal and it means some of the dusts got into the machine and it is working. It is not a noise that you hear on a regular bases. I noticed it last night and remembered that I have not vacuum my house for now a week! You will notice amazingly LESS dust around the house!
3. Its Stand alone and you can put it anywhere! Some air-purifier should not be close to TV or other electronic equipment, but not this one. I have it set not that far from my TV and it works perfect
4. The quality of AIR is so amazing, I have neighbors that smoke and unfortunately the smell comes to my house sometimes, but since I set this in my living room, i don’t have any issues with smell!
5. The filter is so easy to clean and you don’t have to buy anything if you don’t want to. They offer the odder remover filter (which you do have to replace once a year). But note that it works without it and the main filter is a permanent one.”

Now I don’t mind spending that kind of money on the air purifier as long as it WORKS WELL. And it does.

A free air purifier for your fridge.

I’ve also been recently checking out Oreck’s compact air filter which also comes with a free air purifier for your refrigerator. Neat huh?

Even though I could care less about the little doodad for the fridge, I’m more concerned about the air quality in my room when I sleep. I don’t really want to invest a lot into the tower unit like I did because it would just be for one room, so I think the compact will be just fine. When I get it I’ll probably end up putting it on top of my armoire or somewhere out of sight.

“I guess an example of how well this works would be walking into my sons room and seeing dust float through the sunlight streaming in. I placed this in his room and the air was soon clean. We also use it in our living room. Not that we are closed up for the winter it makes me feel a lot better knowing that I have something that is helping clean the air. Now only that but the air that comes back out of it is cleaner. There is a charcoal filter to help fight odors. Which is a plus when cooking.”

“The Oreck air cleaner works great and made a noticable difference in the air quality after just a day or so. I tried shutting it off for a day, and the difference was amazing so it is definitely turned on for good. Thinking about getting a second one for in the bedroom.”
